What is up family!! So as you know, I’m in Costa Rica and this has been the first official week of life here in this amazing country. We are set up in San Jose, Costa Rica. We have an amazing staff here at the base. Kevin and Ana are great hosts and have been so good in showing us the ropes. We started of the week with some orientation because although we are brave and all….racers still need help. Lol. Thursday and Friday we had the amazing opportunity to start doing ministry at a site called Proyecto Abraham! Serving the construction workers by doing anything they need from. For example this week we sanded walls inside apartments that will be used for single mothers who need housing. The second half of the time we spent at a local skatepark, loving on a group of skaters who the people don’t really acknowledge at all. I’m now realizing how much of a tool my second language is. It has allowed me to connect with these men who are about the same age as us. I can’t stand back and just look at someone live lonely. The Holy Spirit compels me to go and share with them. I’m constantly blown away by how the Father reminds me of my past, and how I can use it to extend love to others. He says “that me growing up in a not such a safe neighborhood has allowed me to experience what these men are experiencing.” Which I’ve learned to embrace. If Jesus wasn’t ever in a comfortable situation, then why should I be??

Squad Z is an energetic, explosive, honorable, humble and wise squad. Who doesn’t take the gospel lightly. Each of us has put our “American dream” on hold to follow the Lord’s will. And we will spread the love of Jesus to those who have never received it. So thank you for partnering with us on a mission that has the greatest value of any mission. God bless.

  1. Ya Nathan and I have some crazy sleep patterns lol. Our ability to share what we know from home is amazing. I’m privileged to love on the community and share the life that’s been given to me.

  2. God’s sovereignty is the best. I love the stake ministry we are doing. These men are our age, more or less, and we get to connect with them. I love how they are puzzled yet interested about why we are here.

  3. Thanks so much Mrs. Angela. God has allowed my language to be one of the main tools here in Costa Ruca. I’m beyond honored to be con mis Latinos aquí en Costa Rica!!

  4. I’m so blown away by how far God has brought me. From being confused in college to content in the Lord and now a servant of the King. It’s a honor to be here thank you for your support!!

  5. If I could explain the way God’s provided up until now, I would need a million years. Your continued prayers are getting heard by Abba. Love y’all as well.

  6. Hey!!! Ya the comfort has gone out the window. But following Jesus isn’t easy yet I love it. Costa Rica needs our continued service, so that the lost can see Christ through our team! Love y’all.

  7. Thank you so much brother!! I don’t deserve to serve a holy King yet he allows me to sit at his feet. Love him and love you brother!

  8. Brandon,

Thanks for sharing! Nathan says your Spanish skills are a blessing beyond what he ever knew you all would need! I love the way you are willing to allow the Lord to use your past to connect with and bless others. Ask the Lord to show you those young men through His eyes, and a love for each of them will pour out through you.

And I’m glad to know that Nathan has a fellow “non-shopper” on the team. Didn’t surprise me in the least that he opted to sleep in on Saturday instead of visiting the market. The two of you are going to get along just fine! (It is just SO funny to me that anything before 8:30 a.m. was “sleeping in” to Nathan! Wow – big adjustments!)

Praying for your team as y’all head into 5 full ministry days.

  9. Brandon,
What a great post! You are truly living out Romans 8:28 God uses ALL things-including the things from our past that seem hard at the time-for good. Praying for you and the rest of Z squad as you press in as the hands and feet of Jesus.

  10. What an amazing post!! Tati has told me also how she truly appreciates and values her Spanish. Remember that God designed every single detail and that includes your roots, heritage and native languages. It’s part of our story, therefore His. Keep shining bright and loving His children.

  11. Love this blog post! Thanks for sharing the work that you are doing in ministry. Your connections with the men of CR are an avenue for the Lord to draw them close to him. I’m so happy that my girl gets to be on this journey with you and Z squad!

  12. God bless your ministry to the precious people of Costa Rica, Brandon! Praying that God will work through you in a mighty way!

  13. Brandon, you are a light! Our life circumstances, both the good and bad, are OUR testimony. Nothing makes the messes of our lives more beautiful than when the Father Himself allows us to use them to reach others and show them Him. Much love and many prayers.

  14. Thank you for sharing Brandon. What an amazing beginning to ministry you all have had in Costa Rica. I love that you all are serving construction workers and that your Spanish is giving you the opportunity to share more deeply! What a gift for the men and for you!!!!!! Keep being willing to be uncomfortable for Jesus! We are praying for you and we care about you! See you soon!
